Huawei has launched the Smart Lock M2 smart door lock in China, targeting the mainstream market. It retails for 799 yuan (around $117), although a government subsidy brings the price down to roughly $100, making it one of the most affordable devices in its category.

AI fingerprint recognition and access options

Its key feature is an AI fingerprint-recognition algorithm that adapts to the user, speeding up identification. Huawei claims an unlocking time of about 0.5 seconds and an extremely low false-acceptance rate. In addition to fingerprint access, the lock supports NFC cards, passwords, temporary codes, a physical key, and authentication via Huawei smartphones and smartwatches.

Security, battery life and warranty

The device uses an enhanced security system with a certified EAL5+ chip, a backup mechanical cylinder, and protection that remains effective even if the external panel is damaged.

Four AA batteries provide up to 18 months of operation, while a USB-C port is available for emergency power if required.

The manufacturer also includes a four-year warranty for the device.
